Crafters & Curators of Fine Spirits
A masterful blend of aged, straight bourbons, re-casked in custom-made
toasted & charred American White Oak. In keeping with the legacy of
Maelstrom, this latest small batch a very complex sipping bourbon with notes
of maple, toasted caramel and the subtle warmth of rye spice. Its second
casking was subjected to the ever-changing maritime weather in a season of
storms.
The reviews have been remarkable, commenting on a range of complexity that
flows together with a very long finish. It has wonderful warmth but is extremely
smooth throughout.
We do our best to get this small batch, hand made product to you on time, but
be aware: a complex aging process, and our own very high standards to get it

The Whiskey Fellow Review:
The Maelstrom Saga Series is a series of The Maelstrom expressions from Unbound Spirits ~ each one an extremely small batch with its own unique characteristics. Batch #1, The Reckoning, is a cask strength, nine-year-old straight bourbon, double-oaked in a second casking of custom-made small casks that are toasted & charred American white Oak. Those small casks are then transformed by the turbulent and unrelenting maritime climate forces of the Great Lakes. The result is an incredibly bold & complex full proof sipping bourbon that has been getting great reviews by experts and aficionados. A cask-strength, well-matured Bourbon that is both enchanting and interesting. I loved itâŠThe Reckoning drank way under the stated 122° - probably a good ten or so points!â
*This is a very small batch. As always, first come, first served.

More than a year in the making, our Maelstrom Saga Series 2: Torpedo Juice is
wrapped in historical notes and legend, along with painstaking spirit
craftsmanship. Itâs a beautiful sipper with a range of subtle complexities from
the American White Oak casks intertwining with the added smoked Japanese
Mizunara Oak staves, and then transported across Lake Michigan by the historic
WW2 Submarine USS Cobia as it headed from the Wisconsin Maritime Museum
to Sturgeon Bay for routine maintenance.
A wonderfully finessed 106 proof sipping bourbon, double-oaked and finished
with those toasted & charred Mizunara Oak staves from Japan as a nod to its
service in WW2. A fitting tribute to the USS Cobia crews and veteran US Navy
submariners everywhere.
About the USS Cobia: built in Groton, CT and launched in November 1943. Went
through the Panama Canal to Pearl Harbor and into battle. Sank 13 Japanese
vessels, including a troop transport loaded with 28 tanks bound for Iwo Jima.
Executed daring attacks even when depth-chargedâand rescued seven downed
American airmen and for her wartime record, Cobia earned four battle star.
*Hand-crafted, it will not be repeated and is limited to what could fit in the USS
Cobia. It will sell out soon and is likely to be a real collectorâs item.

A masterful blend of aged, straight bourbons, re-casked in custom-made toasted & charred American White Oak. So named Red Skies because it was casked and put away under the red skies of last summer. The reviews have been remarkable, commenting on a range of complexity that flows together with a very long finish. At 90.4 proof it has wonderful warmth but is extremely smooth throughout. Vanilla, toffee, salted caramel with a touch of spice and smoke near the finish.

When England stopped the colonies from making rum, we made
whiskey instead and created a new nation. That is the ethos of
HoldFast.
From the makers of The Maelstrom, and created in the spirit of
rebellion, a double-oaked alliance of two bourbons: one is
wheated, the other is high rye. The character of each intertwines
with the other creating a boldly-layered and smooth bourbon for
sipping or mixing.
"Hold Fast" is a nautical term that is a reminder of the importance
of staying strong, resolute, and unwavering in the face of
challenges. In other words, stay strong, give no quarter and drink
the perfect bourbon for these turbulent times.
Unfortunately, we underestimated the demand for HoldFast and it
is now SOLD OUT. We are working on the next batch and should be
in a position to accept PRE-ORDERS in February, 2026.

Hooligan Soup is a spectacular sipping Irish whiskey that is double-
oaked and finished in bourbon casks a second time, with toasted
maple staves. It matures in the wildly unpredictable maritime
conditions that pull incredible tasting nuances from the custom-made
small casks. The result is a marvelously-crafted sipping whiskey
without the rough edges.
It takes on a hint of sweetness from the maple staves and the complex
bourbon notes from our small Maelstrom casks, making it suitable for
refined drinking or comforting a wounded soul.
âGreat structure and mouth feel that I have never encountered before
with an Irish whiskey. Biscuity and cremeâ brĂ»lĂ©e on the palate.â Anne
Hartleip, Unbound Tasting Panel.
